I don't recommend people do this unless you really know what you are doing, and even in this case I don't recommend you do this often as the leads will eventuall break ..
but if you're in a pinch, you can use pliers to "convert" a US plug to AU (or vice versa).
Note you also need to plug things that can handle the voltage difference ...
