Setting up ncurses 6.3 on MacOS

If you just want to download ncurses-6.4 precompiled for MacOS, just click here and extract under /usr/local as root. Please note we are not responsible for any problems this may cause on your system.

If you want to compile ncurses yourself, the following is the procedure to get ncurses 6.4 compiled on MacOS (tested on Intel MacOS Monterey 12.6)

• Install GCC 11.3 using this link:
• Download from https://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/ncurses/ncurses-6.4.tar.gz
• Extract ( tar -zxf ncurses-6.4.tar.gz)
• cd ncurses-6.4
• ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/ncurses # (this installs under /usr/local/ncurses)
• make
• make install (as root)
